CARNIVAL: Chiaramonte Gulfi (RG)

The FEAST OF SAN GIUSEPPE: Santa Croce Camerina (RG)

The FEAST OF ST. JOSEPH: Scicli (RG)

 

The Feast of San Giuseppe is celebrated with the historical Ride, an appointment of folklore, in which the protagonists are horses richly harnessed with mantles made of weaving a myriad of flowers of the vanilla plant on the weave of jute. These elegant trappings, parade through the streets of the village, accompanied by horsemen in traditional costumes from the farmers.

FESTIVAL OF the CUTTLEFISH: Donnalucata (RG)

 

The traditional Festival of the Cuttlefish in the port of Donnalucata changes its name but maintains the characteristic goodness! The festival of food and wine today is called the Flavour of the Sea a Black but it remains an excellent opportunity to enjoy the squid cooked in many different ways. The old portcciolo of Donnalucata becomes the theatre of gastronomy of the fishing village where you can enjoy in different ways the squid freshly caught in its most total genuita.

The FEAST OF SAN GIORGIO: Ragusa Ibla


The solemn celebrations in honour of St. George, the Glorious patron of Ragusa, theprocession only after that has happened the so-called “Ballad of the Saint.” On the return attends to the barrels end, that for some years to this part are to assist in an exciting spectacle, also thanks to the use of fireworks pyro-musical. Then it is time to lift back to San Giorgio and in the Cathedral, once again on the shoulders and with the help of a long “chain” of human that facilitates the climb up the stairs.

FESTIVAL OF the CUCCIDDATU SCANIATU: Scicli (RG)

 

The Cucciddatu Scaniatu (scaniare - from the sicilian knead, reshape) is a typical baked product of the food culture sciclitana, donut-shaped and made of flour, cheese, black pepper, and sausage. Its structure is compact and crumbly. Originally it was made for children and young people, using the waste products of the processing of the bread reimpastati with grated cheese, pepper and lard. The dough was then mixed with ricotta cheese and sausage, shaped like a ring, left to rise and then baked in the oven.

The FEAST OF SAN GIOVANNI: Ragusa
